Lockdown- Advantages & disadvantages
Lockdowns due to coronavirus,
have been imposed around the world, billions of people have found that they are
now facing with unprecedented restrictions. Police and arm forces across
the world have been given licence to stop public movement at any cost.
Concerns are growing that
police forces around the world are on top of the issue and executing humiliating
punishments to enforce quarantine on the poorest and most vulnerable groups,
including tens of millions who live hand-to-mouth and risk starving if the lock
down period is extended. Apart from lower income people, All the business owner
going through a tough time.
On March 24, Prime
Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day countrywide lockdown to prevent the
further spread of deadly Coronavirus that has so far infected over 900 people
and reportedly caused 19 deaths across the country.
People,
specially migrant workers , find themselves are in great trouble as they do not
have running income, accommodation. Some of them including children, took life
risk to escape from Mumbai to Rajastan .

In
at least on latest incident, around twelve migrant labourers on March 28
were found travelling to Rajasthan from neighbouring Thane district by hiding
themselves inside an empty milk tanker during nationwide lockdown.All of them are labourers from Rajasthan working in and
around Mumbai. According to the Police, they have been detained and booked
under IPC section 188 .
In somewhat similar incident which took place earlier, the Thane City Police had caught 40 migrant labourers when they were heading to Uttar Pradesh in a truck.
I would like to mention some positive facts of this lockdown,
The social crime specially rape incident reduced to zero. No office work, no
extortion, no corruption, no water & air pollution during corona virus lock
down period.

As shown on the Real-Time Air Quality
Index, in Delhi, particulate matter (PM2.5) dropped from 165µg/m3 on March 21,
a level which is considered unhealthy to everyone, to 64µg/m3 on March 29, a
level which is considered moderate or acceptable.

Similarly in Jaipur, on March 21 PM2.5 levels averaged 139µg/m3,
by March 29 levels had decreased to 48µg/m3. This is classified as ‘good’,
meaning that air quality is satisfactory and poses little or no risk. This is
the first time in 2020 that PM2.5 has been recorded as this low. No govt. policies ever could not achieve it.
Atleast, we can bear in mind that this lockdown helped to top up world's environmental condition in a good way.
